National Science Olympiad will be conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) on November 17, 2011. Numerous students from across the country are appearing for this test. The purpose of this test is to check the acumen of the students towards science. It not only tests the basic science quotient of the student but also tries to analyze the mental ability level of the student. The NSO has total 50 questions that are divided into two main sections- Mental Ability and Science.
The Mental Ability section tests the candidates knowledge about topics like Numerals, Number Name and Number Sense (3 digit numbers), Addition, Subtraction, time, calendar, measurement of Weight, Length and Temperature, geometrical Shapes, money, Problems Based on Figures, Series Completion, Patterns, Find Odd Numeral Out. The section has total 15 questions which test the candidate’s knowledge application skills.
The Science section quizzes the student about the everyday science that he learns in his or her classroom. The topics included in this section are Plants, Animals, Human Body, Family, Food, Clothes, House, Occasions and Festivals, Occupation, Good Habits and Safety Rules, Transport and Communication, Earth and Universe. The total numbers of questions in this section are 35.
